About me
A strong English lesson should be useful, personal, and connected to real communication. My teaching is shaped by years of experience helping students build confidence in speaking, writing, reading, listening, and exam preparation.
I am originally from Santa Rosa, California, and have lived in Japan for many years. My background includes teaching in Japanese schools, working with learners in one-to-one and group settings, and supporting students with both general English and academic goals. I also have experience as a writing center assistant, helping learners improve essays, structure, grammar, and clear written expression.
My lessons are suitable for upper beginner, intermediate, upper intermediate, advanced, and upper advanced students. I can help with American English, accent reduction, grammar development, listening comprehension, phonetics, reading comprehension, speaking practice, vocabulary development, and writing correction.
I also support learners who need academic English, colloquial English, interview preparation, or test preparation for ACT, IELTS, SAT, TOEFL, and TOEIC. My approach is friendly, patient, and practical, with lessons adapted to each student’s level, interests, and long-term goals.
